“Scoby Doby Do What??”
Have you heard about the new drink that’s literally on everyones lips this summer?
I want to tell you about Kombucha tea and it’s amazing health benefits , and how you can start brewing your own amino acid and probiotic rich tea of your own.Kombucha contains small amounts of vitamins and minerals which are produced when the yeast breaks down the sugars, including vitamin C and B vitamins B1, B6 and B12.
I’ve been a fan of Kombucha for a few years, loving the fresh , zingy feel and how it makes me feel really good inside and out. I’d heard about brewing it myself, and how you need a scoby to get started.
Scoby stands for symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast, it looks like a floppy, gelatinous rice cake (a bit weird and slimy), but you soon grow to love them, once you know the health benefits of drinking the brew.
The first recorded use of Kombucha comes from China in 221 BC during the Tsin Dynasty. It was known as “The Tea of Immortality”.Kombu was a Chinese physician and cha means tea, hence kombu-cha!
Its super easy to make, all you need is a scoby and some starter liquid, a Kilner jar, some organic black tea and sugar. There are lots of videos and recipes available , but i’ll put up links below, to the ones that I found the most easy and watchable.
If anyone wants a baby Scoby, I am currently fostering 3! They all need a good home, just ask!
