World of Wellbeing at Womad .
“Rise up this mornin,
Smiled with the risin sun,
Three little birds
Pitch by my doorstep
Singin sweet songs
Of melodies pure and true,
Sayin, (this is my message to you-ou-ou:)”
Festivals have played a big part in my life, but working at one is something very new for me.
I initially felt very nervous about joining the others working in the World of Wellbeing field, at Womad, thinking that they would all be super experienced and way more talented and cooler than me. I had visited the healing areas at other festivals, and loved how Zen – like the therapists were, never imagining that one-day, I would be one!
We were quickly put at ease, as people started to come to our tent, to introduce themselves. I met so many interesting, kind and open souls, that my worries were quickly assuaged, and my partner, Dave, and me soon became one of the gang.
It was really special, to see the festival develop over the 6 days that we were there. From set up, before the revellers arrived, to the dismantling of the site when everyone had left.
I felt so energised, despite having given loads of massages, because I worked barefoot , on the grass, I really felt connected to the earth and truly grounded!
We really didn’t want to leave, and have already decided that we will go again next year.
Womad is such a special event, the diversity of the musicians and participants make it such an interesting and friendly mix of people.
My highlights included seeing an amazing band from Kenya, called Muthoni Drummer Girl and one of the most beautiful and powerful voices today, Anna Calvi. There was a really beautiful time for everyone, when Ziggy Marley sang “ three little birds”. The whole festival was singing and smiling! Talk about a moment to savour for the rest of my life!
Wow sounds like such an AMAZING experience. Great that you will go again in 2020.
The weather played its part and the music and whole vibe invigorated YOU…. well done for making your own contribution a special healing time for needy revellers with that magic touch ×
Thanks Colette! It really was a beautiful experience, can’t wait for next time.

Hey Debra – thank you for a truely glorious massage at Womad! You did bring out my inner Viking, as requested. You also gave my sister a massage, and she said it was the best she had ever had.
hi Sarah,
Ha! That’s brilliant to hear!
I hope that you are very well and really wish you all the best .
Thank you for such a lovely review, see you next year!
Warmly,
Deb
